Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
  • Add honey and lemon juice, mixing well.

Step 2: Infuse with Spices

  • Stir in cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, and cardamom.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Test the Consistency

  • Drop a small spoonful of the mixture into cold water—if it forms a soft, chewy ball, it's ready.
  • If too soft, simmer for another 5 minutes and test again.

Step 4: Cool and Shape

  • Remove from heat and mix in rosewater or nuts (if using).
  • Pour onto a greased tray and let it cool until firm.
  • Once set, cut into small pieces and dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
